Urodynamix is a Canadian medical device company developing a portfolio of non-invasive diagnostic products for a variety of large and growing global markets. Our disruptive technology, based on the principles of near-infrared spectroscopy, has the potential to affect the diagnosis and treatment of 200 million people worldwide.

Urodynamix is led by Barry Allen, previously the CEO of VSM MedTech Ltd. and Entrepreneur-in-Residence for Ventures West Capital.  Over his 20-year career, Mr. Allen has established a reputation for successfully commercializing early stage technologies.  At Urodynamix, he leads a highly experienced, industry proven management and development team.

Urodynamix currently has two technologies in its portfolio: its lead technology, URO-NIRS, and the AVID System.

URO-NIRS – New Non-Invasive Urodynamics
Urodynamix is currently in the early stages of commercializing breakthrough diagnostic technology for bladder conditions, specifically urinary incontinence (UI).  The technology, uses near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), to provide non-invasive testing and diagnosis of diseases of the bladder for patients who experience urinary incontinence and bladder dysfunction.  In May 2005, the Company completed a License Agreement with the University of British Columbia for the exclusive global rights to develop, manufacture and market the technology.

UI is a widespread condition with severe economic and psychosocial impact. The World Health Organization estimates that UI affects 200 million people worldwide, while the National Institute for Health estimates that UI direct and indirect costs are $16 billion annually in the United States.  UI affects men, women and children of all ages.  UI is age related but primarily caused by the affects of childbirth in women and prostate diseases in men.

AVID System
The AVID System is a non-invasive technology invented by the BC Cancer Agency and UBC medical physicists, and commercialized by Urodynamix.  It is a sophisticated quality assurance system for IMRT (Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy) which allows the verification of complex radiation treatment plans prior to treating patients. The AVID System is distributed and marketed on a global basis by Urodynamix’s distribution partner, Advanced Radiation Devices (ARD).
