Urodynamix Begins Enrollment for NIRS Study of Urinary Incontinence in Women

For Immediate Release:

Vancouver, British Columbia - (October 4, 2006) Urodynamix Technologies Ltd. (TSX-V:URO) announced today that it has initiated a clinical study to confirm the efficacy of its near-infrared spectroscopy (“NIRS”) urodynamics device for evaluating stress urinary incontinence (“SUI”) and overactive bladder (“OAB”) in female patients. Urinary incontinence afflicts over 28 million people in North America and 200 million worldwide, the majority of whom are women.

Health Canada has approved the study, which will assess whether the URO-NIRS device is as effective as conventional invasive urodynamics testing for evaluating female subjects with SUI or OAB. The study will be led by principal investigator Dr. Sidney Radomski, MD, Associate Professor of Surgery (Urology) at the University of Toronto. The study will enrol 24 patients and is intended to corroborate and extend previously disclosed data derived from a study conducted at the Bladder Care Centre at the University of British Columbia using an earlier NIRS prototype.

“Female incontinence is a significant health issue that can have a profound negative impact on the quality of life of those it affects,” explained Dr. Radomski. “The concept of URO-NIRS is very exciting, and we believe the device could complement or even replace more invasive urodynamics techniques. A non-invasive solution would certainly allow physicians to more effectively diagnose and treat those affected by this common problem.”

This study of women with SUI and OAB will take place concurrently with trials being carried out at UCSF Medical Center in San Francisco (see news release dated September 26, 2006 for details). The UCSF trial will enroll 24 patients to study the use of NIRS for evaluating male subjects with lower urinary tract symptoms and benign prostatic hyperplasia (“BPH”). Both studies will be completed prior to a pivotal clinical trial to be launched in 2007.
